songtradiction

Lyrics in two songs by the same group or artist with opposite or nearly opposite statements, which taken together suggest a contradiction, inconsistency, or change in outlook.

The following are all examples of songtradictions:

1) A Madonna Songtradiction-
"'Cause the boy with the cold hard cash is always Mr. Right, 'cause we are living in a material world and I am a material girl" - Material Girl
"You don't need diamond rings or eighteen karat gold. Fancy cars that go very fast, you know they never last, no, no." - Express Yourself

2) A U2 Songtradiction:
"If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel" - Mysterious Ways
"Blessings not just for the ones who kneel, luckily" - City of Blinding Lights

3) A Destiny's Child Songtradiction:
"Pay my own fun, oh and I pay my own bills. Always 50/50 in relationships" - Independent Woman
"Can you pay my bills? Can you pay my telephone bills? Can you pay my automo'bills? Then maybe we can chill. I don't think you do, so you and me are through" - Bills, Bills, Bills

Songworm

A Songworm is an annoying song that you hear once and it replays itself over and over in your head until you are ready to commit suicide. Later in the day, you think you forgot about it and before you know it, it's in your head again, and you may even find yourself singing it. The only cure to get rid of a Songworm is to catch another, more annoying Songworm in your head.

Fake Thug #1: (humming "To the left, to the left, everything you own in a box to the left")
Yo, son I got this stupid song stuck in my head all day.

Fake Thug #2: Chill I don't want to know, keep yo Songworm to yo'self

Fake Thug #1: It's Irreplaceable by Beyonce. "To the left, to the left"

Fake Thug #2: Damn, if I start singing that songworm outloud then my boys is going to think I'm mad homo!

Dave Gahan. Formerly known as a lead singer only, but on Playing the Angel (2005 album) he penned three superlative songs: Suffer Well; I Want it All; and Nothing's Impossible, along with Martin L. Gore's always painfully beautiful songs.
Dave Gahan also released his first solo album, Paper Monsters, in 2003. Highly recommended if you are a true DM or Dave fan.
