Truths and False

Myth: Emos are cutters
Truth: Seriously? Wow. Cutting has been around before emo existed. "Preppies" can cut, adults can cut. Cutting is a serious problem as bad as alcholism and drug abuse, but cutting is not emo, and not all emos cut. If you cut, go get help.

Myth: Emos are fags
Truth: Emos now a days are mostly teens, and apart of the teenage years, its a time of discovery, inluding sexuality discovery. But not all emos are bi-curious.

Myth: Emos are bitchy and emotional
Truth: It may be so sometimes, but emo people are usually more introspective and sensitive, some could be angsty and depressed all the time, but its never right to judge a group based on one person's personality.

Modern

Now a days, emo has been attacked several times. The truth is, many kids who are "emo" now a days are just looking for an excuse to be a bitch and asshole. Cutters are often labeled emos, and that is not what emo stands for.

A new breed called scene kids emerged. Emos and scene kids are very different. Emos are introspective, and sensitive, scene kids are myspace and mainstreamers with a lolita element.

Emo 

The term Emo is now non existant. There was a time when if you wore womens clothes and acted as if you were on a period other people would laugh at you. Attention seekers saw this as a way to get attention and joined in wearing black and talking about how sensative they are and which films they cried at at the weekend. They also spend a lot of their time in town gathering like dirty vampires.

Naturally like sheep people have just followed the fashion and now most people are 'Emos' or they think they are.

At the start if you were an emo you were trying to be different and personally all I see is a bunch of zombies that look and dress the same.
Being an Emo is no longer how you are, it is just fashion.

lets wear black and write poems cus everyone else is. lets be an Emo

ok emo doesn't mean you cut yourself. although alot of emos do. it started off as a type of emotional hardcore music and turned into a style.

most emos wear hair over their face, tight pants, chucks or vans, and eyeliner. i used to be emo and depressed after i started listening to AFI. emo is sort of in between goth and punk, and sometimes scene. it's simply a type of style, but now when a person goes and says "oh i think i want to be emo" they start acting depressed, cause thats what everyone says emo is. it's a style dude.

1. (musical genre) emo music rose form the Washington DC punk scene in the mid 80s. bands were noted for being lighter. Notable to today's definition, bands sang instead of the more aggressive punk branch that would become hard core. Due to its vague definition and use as an insult, many bands that are not self proclaimed emo bands are branded with this title.

2. (lifestyle) This is the more commonly known definition. Emos are often self pitting, and have a negative outlook on life. many emos are compared to "goths". The term is usually used for people who's "depression" is fake and only for attention.

a person who hates themself aand does harm to their bodies to make up for it. Or someone who dresses scary and weird. Also someone who needs attention so much they say they hate labling when they actually label themselves. Someone with low self esteem so they pick on others who dont deserve it to make up for it. Lastly theyre usually very pale and ugly.
