Uses music as a fashion accessory.

Into the whole Mod thing of the 60s but have somehow got it all wrong. They like bands such as Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes, Bloc Party, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, The Libertines, The Smiths, The Cure (all of a sudden) "sleazy" electro and basically everything the music magazine NME tells them to listen to. Occasionally you'll see one wearing a Led Zeppelin tshirt under their blazer which so obviously proves they are "rock and roll" and into old school "hard" rock. Favorite Led Zeppelin song of theirs would probably be Stairway To Heaven.
They try to involve themselves in creative subjects at college and university such as art, photography and media studies and like to watch Japanese horror films, 1950's French films, James Dean films etc.
Go to the Camden Barfly on a Friday night and you will think you have walked into a cloning experiment.
I enjoy making songs that are no longer than 50 seconds. I enjoy making movies about nothing. I enjoy wantching james dean on my television set. I like making artwork covers for bands that only exist inside my head.

The teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 who live in town and never miss a local gig, and thrive on the metal scene. They often have a dress code that consists of band T-shirts that they may never of heard of (eg. the ramones), often matching flannies, messed up 'grunge' hair, skinny or ripped jeans, and of course converse. They're attitudes are very poser, and often with the motto 'if you don't look like us you ain't hardcore'. They love sitting in franklin square, smoking and giving dirty looks. As I said before, they love local gigs whether they know the bands or not, because we are so musically starved in Tasmania. They're are also emos that hang around and group together, but they usually only attend when bands like 'circle of blood' are playing.
Tasmanian Music Scenesters are a vast majority of the teenagers who have made town thier home.

One who thinks it's the cool thing to do, to ride the seabus, shop on Granville St., and ride it back in time to catch the Seylynn Hall punk show to see some bands youve never seen before, but seen posters for, around North Vancouver, and sport your latest Anti-Flag and/or misfits shirt, you purchased at The Rock Shop, for a hefty 30 bone.

A scenester is an individual who wants to accumulate social status, and who tries to obtain said status, by superficially imitating the authentic or intrinsically motivated followers of a given subculture or cultural phenomenon which they perceive to be currently popular, without understanding (and in many cases, not caring about understanding) the genuine anthropological or ideological context of the movement in question.

The arrival of these people within a given scene, can very often cause a destructive feedback loop for the scene in question, because as it becomes more popular, and more people who don't really care about it try and use it as a source of social currency, the likelyhood increases that corporations will show up and start using it as a source of actual currency.
When someone shows up in a subreddit dedicated to an old computer game, and asks the question "Should I still be playing this game in X year?" they have just outed themselves as a scenester.
