salamz

An abbreviated form of assalamu alaikum ("peace be upon you") often used by American Muslim youth as a simultaneously cool (in style) and also warm (in sincerity) way of greeting a friend.

Originally coined in Santa Barbara, CA, "salamz" can now be found in use among Muslims AND non-Muslims in several countries including USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Egypt, and China.
