Like "Word on the Streets", but used mostly when your source of information is a social networking platform. However, can also be used otherwise as an alternative to "Word on the Streets". Relevant in today's fast moving, all pervading and progressive digital era.

Male X: Yo, did you hear the news about that hottie you were trying to get with forever?
Male Y: No, what's up?
Male X: Tweet on the streets is that she's getting married to that boy with the thorn in his side.
Male Y: That's messed up, man.

As a negative sentiment the rumor is without a source or anonymous and gives the listener the false impression that a lot of people know of this rumor mainly because of the word "streets". as a positive sentiment the rumor is based on visual facts and declare a positive response.

Negative sentiment: "Ay, word on the streets is that wifey's been with your cousin Rome."

Positive sentiment: Hey dude, surfs up and its firing-off at the point; let's go get wet!

Mean Streets

The all-time classic 1973 film that launched the careers of New York's finest, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, and Harvey Keitel.

A severely undervalued film, which in my opinion, surpasses both of Scorsese's later gangster films, Goodfellas and Casino.

Harvey Keitel takes on the lead role as a mob debt collector, Charlie Cappa, a man whose profession, friends, and way of life, often come into conflict with his strong religious beliefs as a catholic. It is, I believe, is his best role and performance ever as an actor. And Robert De Niro nearly steals the show with his outstanding portrayal of the wild and self-destructive Johnny Boy. This is the role that launched De Niro's brilliant career.

And of course, this film introduced us to the genius Martin Scorsese, the best fucking director and filmmaker in the world.
