An author I really like just started fic baiting (v) all their recent works and now I don't think I can trust them anymore because nothing they've actually written is finished despite the tags.

Get the press baitmug. Mental baiting is a different kind of baiting (such as rage bait), when you use mental baiting it is to make someone else think that you yourself is an idiot or just dumb generally.
Example: saying ”Yung Lean is bad, has no fantasy and does the same shit all the time” is mental bait
