Usual signs that a primary douchebag is in the area is usually the annoyed feelings you get from the crowd around you. It is always the person who makes everyone at a party feels mad as hell.

The first few words that come out of the persons mouth are positive, followed by negative statements. You only remember the first 2 words or so, and ignore the negative words. Thereby giving that person the benefit of the doubt due to most people's inability to recall words or statements past the first few that were said.
He said "I Love You" and the everything else he said was a blur. I thought he said I was too skinny and needed to eat more, but I can't be sure.
