Whether you see alternative as emo, punk, goth, stoner,( which are all just pointless, ignorant, stupid labels made by stupid people who cant use thier brains to think for themselves ) doesnt matter. A person may dress "gothic" but that doesnt make them goth. They are just being themselves.And that is what being alternative means- being yourself, and not letting others tell you how to act and how to be. Being alternative means that you are yourself, and that you dont label yourself as anything. The people who say " I'm Goth" or "I'm Punk" arent really so.
Leave the stupid stereotypes and get with the real picture. Let people be who they want and live their lives. Alternative , in simple terms, is just being yourself, being a little different and out there occasionally, and just being your own person. And by the way - even if someone appears to be the stereotype of something - goth jock punk emo whatever - they can still be alternative. Its your personality - not your looks - that makes someone alternative.

Any girl who dresses everyday like she is going to some concert doens't matter what kind of music it is (rock, techno, whatever) as long as fits into some stereotype. Although heterosexual, these girls don't like dating guys. Thay are tomboys but they are not butch. Unlike metro sexuals they are not high maintenance. (Thats where there is role reversal: Metro sexuals are high maintenance as you would expect a girl to be. Alternachicks are not they are more like guys.) I don't know if they can be labeled as a whore because you can't say they go sleeping around with everyone but it seems that they prefer flings over dating. It seems that both metro sexuals and alternachicks seem to lead the lifestle of the opposite sex, only without being masculine or butch.

A one room shack cost more then a 10 room mansion in Connecticut. It's known as the Greenwich of the west coast. Palo Alto is made up of two sections, the north end and the south end. The north end is the older part, full of old large mansions, Downtown, and Stanford University. The south end is new and more hip, full of large, four story, city like town houses and a starbucks or apple store on every block. There are two high schools, Gunn and Paly. Palo Alto is known for having two of the best public high schools in the country, Gunn ranking 50th in the country. Kids that grow up in Palo Alto have larger trust funds then Paris Hilton and more then 3/4 either go to a UC school (UCLA, UC Berkeley) or Stanford. The other 50 kids either go out of state, go to Foothill Communty College, or live off their parents millions. Laguna Beach should have been filmed in Palo Alto, the kids are richer, the houses are larger, and the people are hotter. The Grateful Dead are from Palo Alto, and many famous artists, poets, and bands from the 60's and 70's got their start in Palo Alto, making Palo Alto the largest hippie town full of rich people in the world. Like greenwich in CT, there are other rich towns that boarder Palo Alto. Darien, Wilton, Westport, and Fairfield are the rich towns that boarder Greenwich, whereas, Atherton, Woodside, Menlo Park, and Los Altos are the super rediculiosly rich towns that boarder Palo Alto. A lot of famous internet people, sports people, and hollywood people live in Palo Alto, and even the cool homeless guy that hangs out by Piazza's has a laptop and rolex watch. Stanford Shopping Center is also the most damn expensive place to shop for designer clothes, and serves a good sandwhich from La Bagguet.

In addition to the black they are fearless when adding colour;on hair, nails, clothing, etc. THe alter emo is typically contemporary & fashion forward with respect to the traditional emo look of heavy eyeliner, tight clothing & studded belts. Generally the alter emo protrays the emo look but has a less depressing attitude towards life, family & friends. They arent old school like many have been made to believe. They use blogs not diaries. They own the lastest tech toys & enjoy retro & modern music alike. the alter emo is not strictly vegan nor suicidal.
The alter emo doesnt lose credibility for actually having money, living in a suburban area, living with parents & for being straight edge.
