A gay or bisexual person, whether they identified as gay early on or not, who first starting sleeping with the same sex in late life.

Actress Meredith Baxter qualifies as a silver star gay since she has stated that for many years she knew that something was different about her and why her relationships with men failed but didn't realize what until she began her first same-sex relationship in 2002. In this case she has come to terms with her homosexuality and identifies as a lesbian.
