Big Cap

When someone says or does something that he or she should be punished, or disciplined in some way for. This relates back to the large, disciplinary dunce caps that were used in late 19th - early 20th century schools as punishment for bad or unruly behavior. While wearing this cap, one was usually on time out in the corner of the classroom.

"Melissa stole some earrings from the jeweler last week and got away with it, nice ones too."

"Are you serious? That's big cap, what was she thinking?"
