DOPE

Dope has a very specific meaning when it comes to music, it is a specific style of music which is often delayed and off beat in the vocals, rhythm or sampling. A style featured in some hip hop music but certainly not all hip hop and not specific to hip hop. A combination of elements that gives a track an overall dope feel. Can be hard to define and the word "dope" is often thrown around in a similar way to "phat" when in fact the music in not in fact dope or phat at all. The rapper "scarface" is the definition of dope when it comes to rap vocal, his style is off beat in rhythm and flow with the use of lags, delay and emphasis/exageration on rhyming words/sounds and delay/lag between words. "B-Real" of Cypress Hill is also a good example of a "dope" rapper. All rappers certainly are not dope.

1. Dope originally came from a relation to drugs. Now many use it like the word cool or awesome. Many use it to describe items like pimpin cars or people like Gabe Velarde.

Gabe Velarde is dope.
Heroine is dope.
Guns are dope.
That's Dope.

dope MC

an MC (emcee) with dope skill. the difference between an emcee and rapper is simply that an emcee is a a skillfull rapper. so being a dope emcee is like being a badass badass. dope MCs are usually less mainstream tho there are exceptions.

Eminem is a dope MC.

The "city" term can be added to the end of several words to add extra emotion/stress something.

For Example:

Guy 1- "Hey man did you see that guy wearing those pink booty shorts?"

Guy 2- "Yeah bro he was madd gaycity."
