The phrase was first coined by James Joyce in his smash-hit musical, Annie, in which he geniously depicts the stereotypical Irish-male's concern for slamming whiskey and disrespecting women, especially the ones from the loins of his sinner wife. 12 step program

Derived from the Latin word “twelvestepethprogramus” which means “To do no good” or in Greek, “To shat on thy face“. The twelve step program is a way to get clean, included in some rehab programs, AA, and NA. It involves giving yourself up to a so-called God, and giving your drug counselors oral to rid you of your drug usage habits. So far it has only been proven useful in lab rats and some untrained monkeys.
