Social Weather

The specific object of study in sociometeorology. It refers to the prevailing "atmospheric" conditions of a social group at a given time. Are conditions "fair and clear" (general contentment and cooperation)? Is there "heavy social fog" (confusion and misinformation)? Is a "storm front" moving in (rising political tensions or conflict)? Social weather is the collective mood, the unspoken vibe, the general temperature of a community, treated as a natural phenomenon rather than the sum of individual choices.

Example: "I was going to ask for a raise, but the social weather in the office was thick with tension, so I decided to wait for a sunnier forecast."

Political Weather

The short-term, day-to-day fluctuations and events in the political sphere. It's the news cycle, the gaffes, the polls, the scandals, and the passing sensations that dominate headlines but may not indicate a long-term shift. Political weather is what politicians and pundits obsess over, treating each blip as if it were a permanent change, while missing the slower, more powerful forces underneath. It's the wind, not the changing of the seasons.

Example: "Don't get too excited about that one good poll; that's just political weather. Check back in six months to see if the political climate has actually changed."

1. To be highly suspected amongst friends of being pregnant, but having not yet 'gone public'.

2. To be of an age and position in life where having a baby is the next logical step.

Based on the observation of the high frequency of woman tv weather presenters who were pregnant or became pregnant while in the job. Thus if someone is presenting the weather it is only a matter of time before they become pregnant.

"She's not saying it, but I reckon they're trying to get pregnant. I mean they just bought a house."

" Yeah she's presenting the weather."

A subtle query used by the drunk, stoned, tripping, and otherwise inebriated to check a fellow’s self assessment of his or her condition. typically used in situations in which frank inquiry is not possible.

cashier: “that will be twenty dollars and 19 cents”
you: “How’s the weather?”
your stoned friend struggling to comprehend money: “quite cloudy.” (that is to say, as the analogy follows, he’s is too impaired)
