Someone who is "Painting their face" is lying to themselves. They paint their face as a clown does.

"I swear to god I will wake up early tomorrow to do my homework!!" <- painting their face
"I will start going to the gym this semester" <- painting their face
"Hey, I think I'm going to start applying for jobs!" "You're Painting your face, dawg."

Ghetto painting

"painting" a piece of wood furniture or furnishing with a permanent magic marker, usually a sharpie, so that the piece of furniture now "matches" the color of other furniture/furnishings in the room

The wood on that chair didn't match my new entertainment center so I did some ghetto painting with a black sharpie and now they match, sweet.

Physical Phantasm

A physical person or thing that exists in the physical realm, however is not socially or mentally acknowledged.

Most common example of people are those who are socially awkward, and no one talks to them, however they continue to exist in the physical realm.

Common example for objects are: pennies under the sofa, lost pencils, homework, objects under the bed; these objects exist in the physical realm however are almost never acknowledged.

Oh they're a physical phantasm, don't worry they dont' have much influence in the physical world ;)
