whatcher

1. Short for "What are you doing?" or "Whatcherdoin?" Mostly used by people who are either too lame at typing fast, people who are too lazy at typing more, or weird people who likes to think that shortening things can make them appear cool.
Very similar to "Wotcher?" or "Whatcha?".

2. A desperate conversation starter. Similar to so or ahem. When there is an awkward silence in between conversations, one person will say "whatcher?" just so they can have something to talk about.

B: Hey, whatcher?
A: Oh, nothing much. Just doing crappy science project.

B: Hey.
