when a person says something that seems like the beginings of a compliment but then just leaves it open ended and very uncomfortable.

Patti sees Britney wearing a sexy new dress. Patti, who really doesn't like Britney, says, "That dress is really sharp. It really makes you look so slim!" Left handed compliment: "You're fat, and that dress makes you look like you're trying to hide it."

When some jackass is too afraid to say how they feel about somebody,so they use urban dictionary to do it without anyone knowing they said it.

An example of an indirect compliment would be:

Steve
The sweetest guy you will ever meet who is full of love and blah blah blah lots of random biased feelings about their imaginary boyfriend.

Seriously, if you right something like this on urban dictionary, then you are sad and pathetic.
