Liberalism

A broad collection of ideologies which share the importance of protecting individual liberty and the consent of the governed at their core. Liberalism originated from the philosophies of enlightenment thinkers such as Locke and Voltaire, and is based heavily on the social contract theory. Liberalism today manifests itself in many different forms, ranging from Libertarian ideas which state that the government must interfere little in private affairs, to Social/Progressive/Modern Liberalism which holds that the government must step in to protect "positive freedoms" such as the right to an education in order for all people to have the platform needed to achieve liberty. Liberalism is neither left wing nor right wing because of this wide variety.

Barack Obama is an adherent of the forms of liberalism which place emphasis on positive freedoms.

Liberal

Someone who is incredibly dumb in an assortment of ways. They have political ideas that are all based on feelings rather that actual factual things. They have no mind of their own, they can’t form their own opinions and have to rely on biased news sources like cnn or msnbc to tell them what they think. They have no critical thinking skills, give them evidence of one thing and they’ll point to the other without thinking. They think they’re always doing the right thing but in reality, what they do is usually wrong. They also usually do no physical activity and just sit at home waiting for money from the government.

Baton Liberal

A baton liberal is a person who claims to follow the ideals of liberalism, but whose actual political ideas seem to be closer to conservatism.

The distinguishing characteristic of a baton liberal is that they want to illegalise just about everything. Movies, video games, tv-shows, martial arts, pre-marital sex - you name it. They are also more often than not overly positive about the police force and all of their policies on judicial matters reflect this.

They bear some resemblance to what people in the US refer to as neocons, and like neocons they are at their core just a bunch of populists.

That guy is such a baton liberal. All he ever talks about is making the police force bigger and extending prison terms.
