James's Dad

To do a "James's Dad" is to purchase two different items from the menu and share. This allows you to try two different things without paying over the odds...

The term came from visiting a restaurant and overhearing a family on an adjacent table. The young boy was called James. He wanted the same dessert as his brother but his Dad suggested that they all have something different and share to ensure more variety!

This we thought was a good idea, we now do a "James's Dad" everywhere we eat! Try it!

A: "I can't make up my mind whether to have the fudge cake or the apple pie?"

B: "Neither can I"

A: "Wel how about I have the fudge cake and you can have the apple pie, then we can do a James's Dad..."

B: "Nice!"

rice dad

The rice boy has grown up (chronologically, not necessarily mentally), is married and has children of his own but refuses to give up his car modification hobby/obsession. Now instead of his import pocket rocket he only has the family car at his disposal for modifications. It is not unusual to see a lowered Toyota Camry with rims, skirts and spoiler ... with a baby seat in the back.

All the parents outside the daycare watched as the Audi A3 wagon with the racing rims and body kit pulled into the driveway. Half expecting a spoiled rice boy to get out, it was only a rice dad dropping of his toddler.

Soccer Dad

Someone who carries the parenting load as an equal partner in a marriage through fulfilling kids’ soccer/sports chauffeuring duties that are typically/traditionally thought of as a maternal responsibility. He has no shame in doing what it takes to support his bad ass wife and cherishes the extra time he gets with his kid(s) as a result of his parenting responsibilities. He knows being present and supporting his children through ups and downs will benefit them way beyond the game.
