A needlessly complicated plan to accomplish a simple task.

Creating an elaborate scheme involving things like lasers, explosions, rope ladders, poisoning and painstakingly crafted lies to make things more cool, interesting and exciting when all could be solved simply by telling the truth, getting the key or using the back exit, etc.

Cool for the sake of cool in effect (often used in movie plot explanations or sitcom plots).

The name Tom Sawyer Plan comes from Huckleberry Finn where Tom makes an elaborate scheme to free Jim from the plantation when they could have just gotten he key the whole time.

Sheldon Cooper on the Big Bang Theory's web of lies to avoid seeing Penny in RENT, which build on each other until he has to go on a weekend trip, hire an actor and keep up an elaborate fake back story to get out of seeing one play.

The brother of Wade Fulp; co-creator of the flash portal website, Newgrounds (formerly Newground Atomix), which hosts many successful macromedia flash movies and games such as Alien Hominid and Pico's School. He commonly creates original flash animations for his website in collaboration with other NG users such as Dan Paladin. Tom is getting married in Spring 2007.

The most talented actor ever to live. Not only is he a great actor but he is also very modest and sincere in real life. Some of his most well-received movies have been: Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, Cast Away, Toy Story, and Saving Private Ryan. Anyone who doesn't like his acting or think he is a bad actor does not know what they are talking about. He has been married to the same woman for the last 25 years which is amazing for someone that famous. I prefer him in the movie You've got mail.
