Camp Sloane

A summer sleep away camp nestled in the Berkshire Mountains in Lakeville, CT. Sloane consists of 4 age groups for both boys and girls: Pios (Pioneers), Juniors, Seniors, and Students. The girls sections are located up the hills near the nature and high ropes courses. The boys sections are right near the lake. Campers sleep in platformed, canvas tents every night and once a session take portable tents to various camp sites for 'overnights.' Every session, there are talent shows, square dances, and depending on age group, co-eds. Camp Sloane offers 2 week sessions, but campers can stay for up to 8 weeks. After meals, campers chant cheers according to their age groups. The counselors are almost 90% international, and are among some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Camp Sloane is really a "place to grow."

Sloanes

A term used to describe young rich, upper/ middle class people. They usually go to public or private school, enjoy playing/ watching polo, sailing, and rugby. The girls enjoy shopping in London and hang around King's Road, Notting Hill and High Street Kensington.

The girls can be spotted by their:
Ridiculously backcombed hair, often with a massive side parting near their ears. If the hair's tied up it's in a very messy ponytail or loose knot
Clothing by Jack Wills, Abercrombie and Fitch or Ralph Lauren
Large belts
Massive over-sized sunglasses
Countless amounts of big bangles
Footless tights, denim mini skirt and Ugg boots
Abercrombie and Fitch or Jack Wills jogging botttoms tucked into their Ugg boots
Skinny Jeans
Long often ratty looking cardigans
Over sized JW or A&F jumpers
Ballet pumps
Big set of Faux pearls
Pashminas
Polo/rugy shirts with the collars turned up
Loud, fast speech, saying 'yah' alot

The boys can be spotted weaing:
Any item of clothing by Ralph Lauren, Jack Wills or Abercrombie and Fitch
Polo/ rugby shirts with the collars turned up
Brown loafers
Chinos

Names include: Harriet (Hats), Charlotte (Charls), Camilla (Mills), Emily (Ems), Antonia (Ants), Victoria (Tors/Tory), Olivia (Livs), Julia (Jules), Rupert, Sebastian, Jeremy (Jez), William (Wills)

Those girls are such sloanes.

sloe gin

Alcoholic beverage made by flavouring gin with the juices of sloes, the fruit of the blackthorn bush. The berries are picked traditionally in October to November, although global warming is edging this back into September. The best stuff is a deep shadowy red and tastes like a mixture of woodsmoke, sugar, fire, and something more sublime again. If you want the genuine article, make it yourself.

Good homemade sloe gin is the nectar of the gods.

sloaney

A teenager who goes to a particularly posh private school like Stowe, Francis Holland, Westminster etc. Have a very defined style - girls usually wear dark skinny jeans, with jumpers, chunky jewellery and belts and boys wear jeans with polo shirts or layered Ts. All designer-made, of course. Hang around the King's Road, or sometimes, High St Ken/Notting Hill. Very overprotected and blue their parents' (usually Daddy's) money. Often appear in Tatler (magazine)in the party scene section.

2 (normal) people walking down the Kings Road see a sloaney on their mobile, who then sees their other sloaney friend, rushes up to them and pecks them on the cheeks french-style.

shonen-ai

Shonen-ai means any type of manga or anime that has a boy-boy love story. Basically a gay love story for girls who like guys who like guys. Shonen-ai is a form of shoujo. Not to be confused with Yaoi which is gay hentai.

Gravitation is shonen-ai bacause it is a love story between two guys.
