A system in which jewish teens earns "points" for hooking up with others at a NFTY events. Although in most regions, the competition is friendly, and with out incentive, large amounts of NFTY points are big ego boosters and something to be proud of.
The following is the standard NFTY points system. However, may very from region to region:
General Member: 1 Point
Temple Youth Group Board Member: 2 Points
Temple Youth Group President: 3 Points
Regional Cabinet Member: 3.5
Regional Board Member: 4 Points
Rabbis son/daughter: 5 points
Regional Board President: 5 Points
National Board Member: 6 Points
National President: 7 Points
Advisor: 10 points
On Shabbat: x2**
Same-Sex: ^2
At a Dan Nichols concert: +3 points*
Siblings: +the age of the youngest
*When calculating total points for the weekend, do not double or square these extra points.
**Shabbat is considered over at the end of Havdalah

NFTY-MAR brings together Reform Jewish Teens from North Carolina, eastern West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Delaware and far-eastern Tennessee. Our members come together at many times during the year for learning, fun, worship, community service, and fellowship to help young Jewish adults throughout the region build and strengthen lifetime ties with each other and Reform Judaism.
the mascot of this region is the lovely Moishe Moose
part of the secrest alliance- MARSOpials whose mascot is a kangaroo/koala bear.
THE BEST DAMN REGION IN ALL OF NFTY- this is not debatable! not only does it have the best regional board members but it also has the most spirit, the most passion and the best advisor in the entire world! this region trumps all regions in every aspect of life especially volleyball and rhymes like no other with its head waiter and head cheerleaders. they also are master colorers and walkie talkie users since without that skill it wouldnt really be NFTY! NFTY MAR is just always soooooo excitedd!!!

NFTY Northeast is known for its three 5-day events called Institutes and for having the most events, and for having the largest average attendance at these events. NFTY Northeast is known for its exceptional programming and spirit. NFTY Northeast has the second most number of dues paying members out of all 19 regions and has the largest Executive Board (10 members), whose election involves a nomination process by the previous board.
