A torture device discovered in Germany and subsequently used by Americans in the most violent forms of torture which was then found to be useful for building stuff.
During times of war, prisoners would be ushered into a completely dark room with random Lego pieces on the floor and be required to continuously walk around.
On day, a cleaner was wiping the blood and toenails from the Lego room when they discovered that multiple pieces can be joined together and used to build things.

An interlocking system of building blocks and one of the most successful tours in the world. Founded in Denmark. Most people find they hurt to step on. I have no idea why they don't affect me.
