Shortside

A hockey term. When a player with the puck rushes towards the net and choses to shoot towards the near side of the net, aiming between the goaltender and the nearest post to him. The term was coined by winger K.D. Fielding of the Toronto Maple Leafs in a post game interview when asked what is going through his mind on fast breaks.

I was coming in down the left wing and gave 'em a little dangle before going shortside, top cheese.
