The once art form that has eventually turned into something that anyone that can talk and has a computer can do. Although there are still some talented rappers out there (i.e. Kanye West). The sad part is most rappers are in it for the money rather than to express themselves, which is what art truly is.

can be performed by anyone, but usually by black people
the 'rapper' must dress like a gangsta
does not necessarily have to have good knowledge of the language being used, for example chinese rapper 'gin'

Usually includes references to all the niggers in the hood and sex or drugs and rap videos always include the rapper showing off with money that they dont have dancing with chicks who they will never get laid by, wearing copious amounts of bling

rap is now seen as an alternative to real music like rock and punk rock. The majority of listeners are americans who cant afford to go to a rock concert so listen to rap instead at home wid da homies

not realy a definition, but, to all the people complaining. rap is like some have previously stated, 75% crap. now this 75% would be artists such as 50cent or souljaboy(how ever the f*** he spells it). very commercial.but the few good (or old) rappers o rap groups can be lumped into oldschool, hip-hop, or the 25% that doesn't blow. these include public enemy, and 2pac. then the mostly crap artists, like eminem, who have 1-4 good songs out of the many they have written.
