In sales, someone whose job is to start conversations with potential customers and arrange meetings with a salesperson. This can involve finding suitable contacts, explaining the reason for getting in touch, and checking whether a further discussion makes sense.

Ideally, the person who makes sure a sales meeting has a reason to exist—not just an available time slot.

A person whose job is to arrange meetings with potential customers. They may contact people, explain the reason for a conversation and check agreed criteria before booking. The person trying to make 'we should talk sometime' become an actual date and time.

The appointment setter reached the operations manager and arranged a call about the new site. I take it from there.
