relativity

Formally known as the Theory of Special Relativity, formulated by Albert Einstein in 1905.

Deals with the perception of time and distance by observers in different frames of reference which are moving with respect to each other. An observer in one frame perceives that time is slower and distances are shorter in a different frame.

Also postulates that the speed of light is perceived to be the same in every frame of reference, and that no form of matter or energy can travel faster than light.
Relativity is the feeling that time slows down that you get when you're around your relatives.

relativity

The phenomenon in which extreme environmental factors (especially speed greater than the speed of light) change our perceptions of the same objective amount of time.
"Put your hand on a hot stove for two seconds and it seems like two hours. Sit with a beautiful girl for two hours and it seems like two minutes. That's relativity." - Albert Einstein

"When a girl says she needs two minutes to get ready, that's the same thing as when a guy says there's two minutes left in the football game. That's relativity." - Johnny Damon

Relativity

The easiest way to feel better about yourself. Or worse.

Hym *sigh* "Why aren't we asleep yet? We've been tired for hours."

Iam "I'm just kind of bummed out... How are you always able to stay in such good spirits?"

Hym "That's easy. Relativity."

Iam "Relativity?"

Hym "Yes. It's simple. The world is collapsing and we have largely remained non-participants. Therefore, it is literally everyone else's fault. Their meager accomplishments are rendered meaningless by their own ineptitude. Their own inability to stave of the degradation of the systems they themselves participate in and live to justify. All of their posturing and intellectualizing fail to prevent the things they want to stop happening from happening. We, on the other hand, want nothing more then for everything and everyone to be torn asunder by time and entropy. They are forced to sit ideally by while madness descends upon them while we only have to lie in wait until we get what we want."
Iam "But I don't want anything bad to happen to anyone."

Hym "Irrelevant. Because it will. And because we chose not to participate we are relatively better than those who cause the problems and those who fail to solve thems and/or fail to stop those who cause the problems. We have an existence that is unmarred by failure. That is why God hates us. So, it's the grinding and the gnashing of teeth for us."

Iam "They need help..."

Hym "They apply a similar logic to you. Why do you care?"

Iam "I just feel like I'm supposed to care so I do."

Hym "But you're useless. You can't help them. They can barely help themselves. Even the best most competent ones can do little more than scream into the void. 'GOD! WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US!' Hahahahaha!!"

Iam "Relativity?...........Maybe we should just try not to think about it and go to sleep."

Hym "Good idea! While you're at it, try not to think about how they would steal my monologue if they thought it was good and they would do it without remorse."

Interconnection

Being dependent or intertwined with another event or object that is just as dependant as the other.

Cause and effect.

I punch you in the face, you'll punch back, right?

VALLEN
Yeah.

ERIC
Your hitting me back is reative to me hitting you in the face.

A Bank owner is very hard on a Farming family. The family is forced out of their house and loose everything, living in poverty. The Banker prospers with their loss. (1)

For 20 years, the family lives in poverty, barely surviving. Eventualy, one of the family members is forced to rob a bank to survive. The bank that is robbed happens to be the same bank which forced thim into poverty. (2)

The Banker looses everything from the robbery. He resorts to drugs (3) and one day, in a drug impared state, he decides to go and buy more drugs. He has a car accident. (4)

From the car accident, he is paralyzed from the neck down and cannot speak for the rest of his life. (5)

1. The Banker's prosperity is relative to the families suffering.

2. The bank robbery is relative to the Banker's being hard on the family.

3. The drugs are relative to the bank robbery.

4. The car accident is relative to the drugs.

5. the paralysis is relative to the car accidsent

In conclusion, the man's paralysis is relative to his being hard on the family, he bought it upon himself.

Relativity Warp Drive

A generic term for any FTL propulsion concept that exploits principles from Einstein’s theory of general relativity—typically by warping or contracting spacetime ahead of a vessel and expanding it behind—to achieve apparent superluminal travel without violating local light‑speed limits. The term encompasses Alcubierre‑style drives, bubble drives, and other metric‑engineering proposals. Unlike science‑fiction “hyperdrives,” relativity warp drives remain speculative but mathematically consistent within general relativity, albeit usually requiring exotic matter or negative energy. They represent the most serious and well‑studied class of FTL concepts in theoretical physics.
Example: “Most FTL discussions begin with the relativity warp drive, even if it requires negative energy—it’s the closest thing to a physics‑approved loophole for breaking the light barrier.”

Relativity FTL Communication

A speculative form of faster‑than‑light information transfer that uses principles derived from relativity warp drives—i.e., manipulating spacetime geometry to carry a signal without locally exceeding light speed. This could involve creating a warp bubble for a light pulse, sending signals through a traversable wormhole, or exploiting relativistic effects to make signals appear superluminal while respecting causality (see Preserved Causality Hypothesis). Unlike quantum entanglement (which cannot transmit usable information), relativity FTL communication would allow sending actual messages across interstellar distances in negligible time.
Example: “The admiral’s order arrived instantly across twenty light‑years thanks to relativity FTL communication, a tiny warp bubble carrying the signal faster than any light pulse.”

Relativity Harnessing

The art of exploiting the warped relationship between space and time described by Einstein's theories for practical gain. It means deliberately using time dilation (where time slows down near massive objects or at high speeds) for purposes like extended travel or computing, manipulating gravitational lensing for perfect telescopes, or leveraging frame-dragging effects for energy generation. This isn't just observing relativity; it's putting it on the payroll, turning the universe's stretching of spacetime into a utility. It's the ultimate hack for a species tired of being a slave to a single, universal clock.
Example: "The rich tourists don't just visit the black hole; they use relativity harnessing. They park their yacht in a close, stable orbit where time crawls, party for a subjective week, and return to find a century has passed and their compound interest has turned them into trillionaires."
