A form of gaslighting where the perpetrator explains political realities to someone with
direct experience or expertise, often in a
condescending tone, while erasing the target’s own political agency and knowledge. Variants include Westsplaining (Westerners explaining to Global South peoples) and Zionsplaining/Israelsplaining (non‑Palestinians explaining the conflict to Palestinians). Politicalsplaining dismisses lived experience, substitutes abstract frameworks for embodied knowledge, and positions the splainer as the objective
voice of reason.
