Piermont

A little village at the foot of the mountains and on the banks of the Hudson River. Residents that lived there before the paper mill was levelled are called River Rats or Piermonsters. Residents that bought the condos where the paper mill once stood are called Yuppies or Piermonters. Residents that live in Lawrence Park don't count as real residents unless there is a fire call to repond to. True River Rats are all related somewhere in their DNA but usually a flow chart is needed. Most River Rats are known by a nickname which is ever-evolving and changing. True River Rats know what the following are: the pier, ClevePak, donkey baseball, high tracks, parking lot (upper & lower), cowboy fields, platforms, ice hopping, crabbing/fishing (catfish, perch & eels especially), teen center, mine hole, sand pile, silk mill, Empire Hose, Mom's, Renee's, Davie's and the Kracker Box.

So is my family.
Oh yeah, who's your dad?
One Eyed Willy.
No shit! He's my dad too!"

powerpointless

A long-drawn corporate presentation full of jargon and acronyms that doesn't make any point.
Dave - Damn, I dozed off in the middle of the presentation, What'd I miss?

Matt - Nothing much, it was pretty much powerpointless.

PowerPoint Karaoke

When the presenter of a PowerPoint presentation is reading straight off the slide and not expanding on what is written.
"She's just reading straight off the slide! She may as well let us read it rather than read it out to us - it's PowerPoint Karaoke, I tells ya!"

powerpoint

A heinous, but useful microsoft tool for putting together presentations of slides/viewgraphs.
This little piece of sh -- I mean, software comes with MS Office and it features creepy templates and clipart, your helpful friend Clippit and strategic incompatibilities with previous versions of itself.
It masquerades as a graphics program, but cannot touch Adobe in any way shape or form, so it is instead as annoyingly incompatible with Adobe as possible.
Also, it will HOG all your SWAP SPACE.
Bastard.
Person: Instead of doing real technical work, I spent all day making powerpoint slides out of my results, only to have the software freeze my computer after a few hours.

death by PowerPoint

The phrase used to described the numbing sensation that accompanies a 30-slide briefing. Behind all the PowerPoint jokes are serious concerns that the program stifles discussion, critical thinking and thoughtful decision-making.
"Last year when a military Web site, Company Command, asked an Army platoon leader in Iraq, Lt. Sam Nuxoll, how he spent most of his time, he responded, “Making PowerPoint slides.” When pressed, he said he was serious."

"Despite such tales, “death by PowerPoint,” the phrase used to described the numbing sensation that accompanies a 30-slide briefing, seems here to stay. The program, which first went on sale in 1987 and was acquired by Microsoft soon afterward, is deeply embedded in a military culture that has come to rely on PowerPoint’s hierarchical ordering of a confused world."
