A person who supports or loves his country of birth.

However, to be honest, the only real patriots are the ones who fight for their country, and make the Ultimate Sacrifice.
"I love my country. I love this land. If you don't like America, then fuck off because we've had enough of your prejudice. Your hatred for this country makes my colleague's statement 'fuck the world' be so very true and well-spoken."

patriotism

A form of self-worship, which permits dishonest politicians to persuade the people to surrender their liberties and even act against their own material interests. See example for details. Often a trait of people who have not themselves contributed to their country anything much that is positive, but are trying to derive honor vicariously. (I except from this definition the actions of combat veterans who sincerely believed, rightly or wrongly, that they were fighting for their country.)
"Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it." - George Bernard Shaw

One who stands united with their bretheren. Love for one's people (regardless of race or class). Often confused with delusions of supremacy do to misuse of term. An individual member of a "greater whole" striving for a common ideal. In the American sense, this ideal is anti-collectivist, anti-fascist, and pro-liberty.
A patriot realizes that sometimes liberty can only be achieved through mayhem. Israel Uber alles!

Mainly mistaken as a "strong supporter of his/her own country", this word has now lost its meaning completely due to the ever-changing society of the United States. The word, comes from a Latin root, "pater", meaning father, and the Greek root "patēr". This word is derived from French, Greek, and Latin words.

Basically defined in today's terms, a patriot is an individual, commonly witnessed in the United States, who has strong belief in his/her government, and will blindly oblige to what the government orders him or her to do. Patriots are often seen associated with firearms, whether it be on social media or in open-carry states like Texas. Not knowing that they are already oppressed and losing freedom fast, they "preach" their second amendment, which will soon be gone if no further action is taken to preserve the right. Common misconceptions are that patriots are very closely associated with red-necks and hill-billies. Although this may be true in most cases, patriots exist everywhere. Patriots are more-often-than-not, obligated to join the military for bragging rights.
Person 1: "I am a Patriot!"

Person 2"Congratulations, the government succeeded in brainwashing your ass so that you could go join the army and do the politicians' dirty bidding!"

All-American Patriot

Generally White supremacist Republicans who call themselves patriots all while protesting against democratic procedures, storming government buildings, and being very racist while doing it.

patriotically correct

Nature of use is primarily American.

2) The way every true American citizen should speak or behave, regardless of whether they are American born or legal immigrants.
1) The fact that the textbook acknowledged our Founding Fathers as "fathers" was a rather patriotically correct statement versus the politically correct versions that have begun calling them the Founders of Freedom so as to not be sexist.

2) Jorge chose to stand at the ball game, holding his hand over his heart during the Star Spangled Banner and facing the American flag, rather than remaining seated as some of his friends did.

The Patriot Act

A plan instituted by all the branches of the US government. This plan when used effectively can stop a suspected terrorist member from renting books from the public library on how to build bombs, chemical weapons, organize a militia, etc.
Democrats naturally hate this plan since it was created by the Republican party in wake of 9/11. If it was the other way around, Republicans would hate it since the Democrats came up with it.
Rightfully so, this Act should save some lives. Proof you ask for? Nope, how can you prove it's working? Then again, you also can't prove that the Patriot Act isn't working...
"Man Joe, I hate the fucking Patriot Act"
"Ok Al' Jaiera, you're only saying that cause your dad and you tried to build a bomb but the library wouldn't let your towel heads check out the book."
"Oh yeah, now I see how George W. Bush and The Patriot Act are saving lives Joe"
"You're such a terrorist Al' Jaiera, and a sand nigger to boot!"
"I know...."
