Visiting the thrift shops in an area one after another. A mix between "thrift shop," "shopping," and "hop." Does not necessitate actually buying anything, but describes the action of serially going to thrift shops.

Person 1: "I just went thrift-hopping yesterday and picked up some awesome shirts!"

Person 2: "Really? You should take me with you next time!"

thrift prep 

someone(usually between 15 and 19) who LOVES thrift stores, swears they 'have to buy their own clothes', so they shop at thrift stores, yet manage , on a teenager's budget, to wear hollister, A&F, american eagle, and many other brand names

"oh my god look at what i got at the goodwill! it's such a cute shirt, don't you think? and it goes perfect with my A&F jacket too! i wore it with my hollister pants and i was like...woah" -a thrift prep would be caught saying this

A leftover gift card with just enough money to make you feel bad about throwing it out, but not enough to actually buy anything. Usually are worth between $.25 and $1.

Jack: Wow man, freakin starbucks nearly cleaned out my $10 gift card in one visit!

Brendan: That sucks dude, looks like you're stuck with a thrift card.

Thrift Store 

The place for upple middle class-middle class hipster, emo, indie, scene, etc... kids/teenagers/young adults to try to find clothes that look like they are from stores like Urban Outfitters that they can't shop at even though they have plenty of money because of the superficial convinction that while orginality can be BOUGHT at a thrift store, it cannot be bought at a mass retailer...

Or I guess where people shop to SAVE MONEY...although you can get new clothes on sale or better quality used on ebay for almost the same price anyway.

Mark ( browsing through the rack at Urban Outfitters): This stuff is sooo commercial and unoriginal, it really doesn't suit my original, sophisticated, raw, independent spirit.. (makes face)
(insert light bulb here) I know!! I'll go to a THRIFT STORE where I can buy the same crappy, low quality clothes but with a more ill fitting cut, even shittier colors, and the great musty smell of body odor and decay ! Then I'll look so original just like all my friends who wear the same ill fitting, smelly garb. Fabulous.
