Indiecore

Indiecore is not only a style, but is also a music genre. Indiecore is a blend of Hardcore and Indie music. The term Hardcore has been changed immensely since its original meaning. Hardcore was originally a genre created by bands such as Bad Brains and Minor Threat and it was influenced by fast abrasive punk rock. Indie technically has no definition besides the fact that it is the abbreviation for independent. Indie was just a genre created to describe music that you can't and don't want to put a specific label on. The style of Indiecore is very similar to the style of Scene, in ways in which they wear tight pants and band merch. Indiecore is also different from Scene, because they usually don't have choppy hair and they are proud of their natural hair color and don't dye their hair. Indiecore kids are very supportive of local music, and its practically all they listen too.
Scene Boy: What kind of music is this? I can't tell if I like it.
Scene Girl: It's a blend of indie and hardcore, I thinks its called Indiecore. It's confusing.

Indie Snob

A person, usually a self appointed "Musician" who particularly entertains the idea that their taste in music is really different and unique to everyone else's, and is usually convinced that any band who experiences commercial success has "sold out", even if said fan may have previously claimed to have liked that band before their peers.

Putting three Indie Snobs in a room together is usually dangerous and somewhat anti social, as they will continually argue with each other over who liked a band first.
Regular John: Mate. Muse are playing in a few months, I haven't seen em yet. Wanna go?

Indie Snob: Bitch please, I saw them years ago when they still played in bars.

Indie Snob #2: Yeah? I went to High School with one of them.

Indie Snob #3: Pretty sure I was there watching their grandparents have sex, you're all newcomers.

Indie Person

Its not about how you look
its about how you think
its not about what you listen to
or what you wear

its about why you do.

Indie isn’t a 'look' or a 'style' it’s part of the way you think, independent from what the mainstream wants you to think (which would explain the love of political debates), independent from what Elle and Cosmo want you to wear this month, independent from what MTV plays, independent from labels and restrictions in general. Basically indie means following your own mind.

Meaning: if you listen to a song or wear clothes because it’s the latest chart topper or must have

and stop listening to it or wearing it because its "soo last month"
- you're not 'so-called' indie simply because you are obviously not thinking

independently, you follow what others prescribe, suggest, and do.

Therefore if you listen to indie bands and wear skinnys and scarfs
because you want to be indie then you are NOT indie, because you are yet
again simply following.

The only reason why I think there even is a ‘indie look’ is because all 'indie peeps'

think alike and shy away from labels and anything mainstream and commercial.

This of course does not mean that they never ever wear labels or like something

that is commercial it just means that if and when they do, it’s not because it’s a

label or whatever, but because they want to and they don't allow themselves to be

bound by some definition and set of do's and don’ts.

They think for themselves , they like what they want.
Trying to be an indie person contradicts the whole concept...

it's not something you can buy, its something you just are,
dressing in skinny's and oldish clothe's to be an indie person won't make you indie, it just makes you a poser.

A stock character in opera, theater, and literature. She is a girl or young woman who is endearingly wholesome and innocent. Very similar to the girl next door.

She is generally portrayed as sweet, gentle, virtuous, beautiful, demure, with the wide-eyed innocence of a child and she is very often naive. She is often the victim of the libertine, whom she may have mistaken for the hero. Often she still lives with her parents, owing to her youth and naivete.
She is usually the foil for the dangerously seductive femme fatale.
She is often involved in a romantic subplot, usually with the boy next door and the romance is typically innocent and chaste.

Indie Cindy

The term coined by a UK band called Hadouken. They mention the term Indie Cindy in their lyrics to their song, That Boy That Girl.

"That girl's an Indie Cindy,
Lego haircut and polka-dot dress,
I don't care if she thinks she's indie,
How she's different is anyones guess."

An Indie Cindy is described as a girl with painted eyebrows, lego haircut, wears a polka-dot dress, carries a shiny red handbag that matches her shiny red shoes, is spotted at indie night clubs, pouts while dancing or posing for pics, wears glowsticks, goes to Klaxons gigs, idolizes The Pipettes or Karen O, and loves the following: mascara, vodka and coke, pink, the 50's, skinny boys, kitsch, myspace and NME.
