A
Houston, TX based
U.
S. national airline which currently operates a fleet of 274 Embraer Jets, consisting of EMB-135ER, EMB-135LR, EMB-145EP, EMB-145LR, and EMB-145XR variants. Expressjet is consistently a top performer when its performance metrics are measured against other airlines who operate aircraft of a similair size. Expressjet is publicly traded on the new york stock exchange, and their symbol is XJT.
ExpressJet operates approximately 49 of these aircraft with an airline of their own name, serving
24 US cities. Most of their destinations are in the southwestern US, but they serve cities from coast to coast. 10%-20% of those 49 aircraft are typically devoted to charter-only duties at any given
time. They also operate 205 aircraft on behalf of Continental Airlines as "Continental Express" out of Cleveland
Ohio, Houston Texas, and Newark
New Jersey, and an additional 20 aircraft on behalf of Delta Airlines as "Delta Connection" out of
LAX.
I took expressjet from Raleigh-Durham North Carolina to San Antonio Texas last week. It was a
great flight. They gave me a free headset so I could listen to the complimentary XM satellite radio installed in every seat. I enjoyed their dollar beers and three dollar cocktails, not to mention their meal service, which was again complimentary. Best of all there was no middle seat, I valet checked my
bag, and since there were only 50 seats on the plane I didn't have to wait
forever to get on and off! I haven't had service this
great on an airline in years!
