The meaning of lost in the sauce can be easily deduced down to being deeply in love so much as to the point where someone says things or carries out actions that they normally wouldn't proceed to do if they weren't lost in the sauce for example in the song the man for some unknown reason hasn't seen his lover for "97 days" and not to mention the "million miles of highway in between".
