A great sci-fi film about Mark Watney (played by Matt Damon), who is left alone on Mars after an exploratory mission goes wrong. He is faced with overwhelming odds to survive until help (hopefully) arrives.

Person 1: Hey, have you seen The Martian?
Person 2: Hell yes! I loved seeing Matt Damon science the shit out of everything!

The Martian 

A very interesting novel that was adapted into a movie by Andy Wier.

It is about a story based in the year 2035 where astronaut Mark Watney is stranded for over a year on mars after a high-speed dust storm made the rest of the crew abort after Mark was hit with debris on their way to escape.
