Named after Steven Moffat, who took over as the main writer of Doctor Who after Russel T. Davies left. Moffat's attempts to make each season he worked on more special and complex than the last ended up making the most recent season (season 10) into an overcomplicated, confusing mess, with plot threads left hanging and an unsatisfying conclusion.
The new writer on that show is totally moffating it. I have no idea what's going on anymore.
