The practice, exercised almost exclusively by well-known,
white, straight, cis men, of taking a creation (their own, a collaborative
work, or another's) and attempting to improve upon it in a way that diminishes the quality of the
work.
Named after Steven Moffat, who took over as the main writer of Doctor Who after Russel T. Davies left. Moffat's attempts to make each season he worked on more
special and complex than the last ended up making the most recent season (season 10) into an overcomplicated, confusing mess, with plot threads left hanging and an unsatisfying conclusion.
