In Halo 3, it's the dual-wield of 2 spikers.

THe word is originated due to the sound the weapon makes when it's reloaded.
It sounds like SKITTLES rattling inside a container.

Some victims claim that when killed by "skittles", the killer will whisper "taste the rainbow" into their ear.

"teh_pwnerer just got a double kill with skittles, GO TAKE HIM DOWN!"
