dinflation

Dinflation is the phenomenon that occurs at a restaurant when the diners realize the check will likely be split evenly and over order, causing the final check to be inflated. The dinflation/over order is generally late in the meal and may be an extra bottle of wine, a digestif (e.g. port), or dessert that you wouldn't normally order.

This phenomenon is particularly prevalent in situations where a meal is spread out over many shared courses, where a bottle of wine is ordered & shared, when some of the party shows up late complicating things, or when patrons are not carrying cash and the polite thing to do is simply "split the check X ways" to save the waiter the headache.
The evening started out pretty reserved with just the three couples. But after a round of appetizers and two bottles of wine, folks realized the check was going to be complicated. Dinflation occurred when they set caution to the wind, ordered the most expensive cut of meat and someone even ordered a cigar.

worst place

After the other three skateboarders rode the hand rail successfully, it was Tom's turn. He flew off the stairs and rode the rail down, but missed the landing and fell flat on his face. His buddy sarcastically remarked, "Nice Tom. You get Worst Place!"

atks

text abberviation for "As the kids say." When adults are talking they often cop to speaking in demi-adult lingo. When adults use words in email or texting like "word", "pumped", "hip", "phat", "tight" or abbreviations like "ttyl", "ROFLMAO", and so on, they should immediately follow that with "atks", to indicate that they recognize they are a) too square to actually pull it off or b) using those terms to in an ironic fashion.
My buddy texted to tell me he got tickets to the game. I was so excited, I replied "phat! atks".

emoticist

A person who looks down upon users of emoticons in their electronic communications. Emoticists are generally learned people with a penchant for proper expression, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
While texting with Whitney, Jason typed: " U have a great weekend 2 :) "

Upon reading the smiley face Whitney, the emoticist that she was, texted back with great derision, "L8er" and decided to cease future discussions with that loser.
