I tried to enjoy the book that my aunt gave to me as a gift, but alas, the protagonist was too much of a Marty Stu for my taste.

Since the wet fabric makes it near impossible to breathe, the person being “waterboarded” will feel as if they are drowning, despite them not being in any sort of body of water. Usually, water is poured intermittently to prevent death. However, there have been cases of deaths by asphyxia due to waterboarding.
