A sort of Plug and Play... a cord attached from the computer to a device (camera, Mp3, iPod, PocketPC, etc) gives it immediate connection to the computer. Usually powers the device.

My digital camera is attached to my computer by a USB. My devices are now instantly connected to my computer in a snap.
