Plate 

The anode in a vacuum tube; the surface to which electrons are attracted.

If you use the 201A tube as an amplifier, you should give it a plate voltage of 90 volts.

grid 

The part of a vacuum tube that controls the electron flow. Often two posts with a wire wrapped around them to form a ladder-like structure.

Some tubes need a grid bias, and some don't.

barf

verb: The premature expulsion of consumed materials through the mouth and nose.
noun: The material that is expelled in the manner described above.

Short for "System International." Also known as the Metric System.

The SI system makes more sense than the English system. It should be officially adopted by the US, but we Americans are too lazy for change.

nipple 

A small metal tube protruding from the breech of a muzzle loading firearm, used to hold a percussion cap so that it may be struck by the hammer and ignite the powder.

Place a cap on the nipple and draw the hammer back, aim, and fire.
