An annoying irony. From the phrase "You can't have your cake and eat it too." Mostly used to refer to something sought after only to be found it's useless.

Bloodbath

A gathering of powerful high-ups and bloods, usually indicating that something dangerous or important is happening. Wise cutters avoid them. Ambitious cutters seek them out.

The top executives of Apple, Facebook, and Google are having a meeting tomorrow. Avoid that bloodbath if you value your job at one of those companies.

To raise the price of something anticipating or during especially high demand of an item.

A bribe.

"Give the petty official a garnish and he'll go away".
