The fondly remembered years from 1999 to 2008 that were characterized by: Flip Phones, Blockbuster, American Idol, CSI Miami, 24, The Sopranos, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, AOL, iPods, and Windows XP.

LVA
Long Vacation Addiction. A condition where a person cannot stop watching the 1996 Japanese Drama called Long Vacation.
Steve: Are you watching that same Japanese Drama again? What the hell is wrong with you?
Ken: What can I say? I love watching it.
Steve: Yeah but it's abnormal, watching the same show over and over.
Ken: I suffer from LVA and I'm okay with it.

Hypocritically blaming the other political party for a governmental action that you originally proposed at greater expense.
Senator Chuck Schumer's blaming of Trump for federal spending during the COVID pandemic is a clear case of amnesiatic retro-blaming. Schumer was asking for a lot more money for COVID than Trump eventually approved. It's extremely bogus for Schumer to point fingers at Trump now.

Paul Ryan Effect
The accepted reality that promises made by Republican candidates won't come true. Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan claimed that he was a "Solid Conservative", when in fact he was a self-promoting sleazeball that lied for several years without any shame. Ryan promised great things in his campaigns, but the USA suffered severe losses during his tenure in Congress.
During 2024, Trump was out there making big promises about eliminating taxes on tips and Social Security payments. Now we see the Paul Ryan Effect in action. Tips and Social Security payments are still being taxed and there is no fix in sight.
