Pussytator
The real power behind a dictator. The one that gives orders to the dictator and the one the dictator answers to.
Her countrymen/countryfolk saved the pussytator a place on the guillotine with her husband, since she was not above suspicion and wasn't doing a good job. She wasn't getting out of it because she was a female, there had already been enough females to try that excuse.

Free pass
The outsider girl thought everything was to everybody what it was to her, a silly, pointless battle for supremacy where nothing was sacred but winning. She thought somebody else's ground to stand was hers to walk all over, because she had had a free pass to do so for so long.

Free pass
Because the outsider girl had had a free pass for so long, if not always, she didn't think she was a guest in another town, as not all guests are welcome. She thought she owned the place.

Free pass
The outsider girl had had a free pass for years to fuck with a town she wasn't from, and anybody's lives in it. If she didn't hold her own town sacred, that was her business, if she didn't hold somebody else's sacred, it was theirs.

High paying job
Struggling on your feet won't always get you a high paying job, that doesn't mean it isn't worth it to stay off your knees.
You won't be guaranteed a high paying job if you don't get on your knees, but there's already enough other people compromising everything to be a part of a collective machine that you don't have to be one more cog in it.

Giving up
There's a difference between recognizing unrealistic expectations by an employer or government (trying to do physical work and breathe through a mask at the same time, for example) and saying go fuck yourself to the folks making the mandates and their wildfire/changes, and giving up on finding a job or living life. Most people below retirement age really do want to work, they also know what the realities of it are.
Not working at times when a government threatens to shut everything down on a regular basis and keeps people from finding a working/living rhythm isn't the same thing as refusing to work/live, or giving up on work/life entirely.
