A belief system lacking in logic. Denies in some shape or form hard-to-accept facts, such as death, chance, and chaos. Often includes rituals and rules. Frequently abused by authorities to keep the masses under control. Includes shamanism, monotheism, henotheism, etc. Often the source of bad decisions.

The Scandinavians starved themselves to death by not learning from the pagan natives how to survive in Greenland.

Members of the Panawave Laboratory believe their leader is dying from communist microwaves attacks.

chai 

The word for tea in several languages, including Czech, Turkish, Russian, Sanskrit, and Farsi. Originates from cha, the Chinese word for tea. The British word tea comes from a regional dialect of China. Currently in US, chai refers to a milky tea with a milder version of Indian spice.

I like cinnamon in my chai latte.

crusade 

The crusades were pope-sanctioned military endeavors during the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries against non-Christians. Goals included capturing Jerusalem and expanding territories in general.

Christian occupation of Syria disappeared after the ninth crusade.
