Yukimas

Invented holiday to take the place of Christmas for non-Christians. Derived from the name of a character, Yukito, from the TV show "Card Captor Sakura." The holiday celebrates peace, love, and everday kindness. Like Christmas, it falls on December 25. "Yuki" means "snow" in Japanese.

oha

Shortened form of "Ohayou gozaimasu," the Japanese salutation equivalent to "Good morning." It is a cute way of saying hello.

"Oha" was made popular by a Japanese celebrity, Shingo Katori, on the TV show "Saturday SMAP." He uses it as his catchphrase, and used it in his song "Shingo Mama no Oha Rock."

A hand gesture usually accompanies an "Oha!" greeting. On the first syllable "oh", hold up your hands, palms out, with your index fingers touching your thumbs (like the American "O.K." gesture). On the second syllable "ha," straighten out your index fingers and thumbs, and push your hands forward.

Manch-Vegas

Alternative name for the city of Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. The word was coined by combining the first part of "Manchester" with the second word in "Las Vegas," juxtaposing Las Vegas's glitz and glamor with Manchester's lack of either. Used derisively.
"So are we going out tonight?"
"We live in Manch-Vegas. The hottest spot open this late is Wal-Mart."

Pixy Stix

Colored sugar powder sold by Willy Wonka in thin paper tubes. When ingested, it quickly produces an intense sugar high, and so is sometimes called "cocaine for kids."
