single; unattached (and usually happy about it); the ability to date and/or sleep with whoever you want, whenever you want and have multiple sexual partners.

(derived from the expression "there are plenty of fish in the sea").

The assembly line was the brainchild of Henry Ford, ushering in mass production of automobiles and significantly reducing their price for a while.

nature of the beast

certain aspects or traits of a person or thing that reveal themselves, either occasionally or on a regular basis.

"It doesn't really surprise me that she said things to you. But don't take it personally. I mean, after all, she's generally a nice person, albeit a bit quirky at times. It's just the nature of the beast I guess."

stereo

When two people say the same word or phrase simultaneously during a conversation (usually by coincidence), the word "stereo" would then be uttered immediately by one or both parties to acknowledge this phenomenon.

no real example here, just remember to say "stereo!" the next time you and someone else you are speaking with inadvertently say the same thing at the same time.

never bring food to a buffet

an expression which basically asserts that it is unnecessary (and often self-defeating) to be accompanied by someone of the opposite sex to an event where there are likely to be a significant amount of unattached people who are potentially looking for an opportunity to "hook up".

applies of course to those who are not married or not in a steady, long term relationship.

"so, are you going to Darren and Tracey's wedding? I hear there will be lots of hot singles there!"

"for sure. maybe I should bring along a date, what do you think?"

"no no no, my friend......remember....NEVER bring food to a buffet!"

engineering project

something that takes an unusually significant amount of time and/or effort to complete.

-commonly referring to a common household item that requires some sort of installation or assembly, but is unnecessarily complicated and/or contains instructions that are not easily understood by a person with average intelligence or insight.

"these windshield wipers are a pain in the ass to install! why do they make the things that should be the simplest of tasks a f@#$%ing engineering project??!?!"

what the hell ever happened to "insert tab A into slot B" ??
