A trombone played with a bassoon reed replacing the cup mouthpiece. Often used for gag effects.
These kids are so mischievous---they're always playing the tromboon when the band director's back is turned.

Science so complicated one needs to use calculus most of the time to express concepts. From the "sigma" letter in calculus, the symbol that is used to express summation.
Quantum physics is a sigma science.

Used as an adjective, this means old-fashioned, out-of-date. Usually applied to attitudes.
Man, Mr. McMahon is so slide rule! Why does he always use long division, when there's a calculator right on his desk?

"Found" or filler work that is used to tide you over the last half hour or so before you leave your job for the day.
It's 3:30 now and I go home at 4, but there isn't enough time for me to scan those documents. So I'll ride this horse now and leave the scanning for tomorrow.
