spreading like wildflower

An unintentional distortion of the phrase "spreading like wildfire", which, oddly, is both poetically evocative and accurate in its imagery.
Anne would often say, of a rumor, a fashion or a craze, "it's spreading like wildflower", and he was too impressed by its inner truth and charm to ever correct her.

Darnella Frazier

The young woman whose eyewitness video of the George Floyd killing by former police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020, became a crucial artifact of American history. She was awarded an honorary Pulitzer Prize on June 11, 2021.

Only 17 at the time, Darnella Frazier is to the Floyd killing what Abraham Zapruder was to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, an accidental bystander with a camera, a vital witness to an historic moment. Ms. Frazier's video of the arrest, which recorded Floyd's plea - I can't breathe - as Chauvin knelt on his neck for more than 9 minutes, sparked protests across the country. A witness at Chauvin's murder trial, Ms. Frazier expressed regret for not physically confronting Mr. Chauvin. “It’s been nights I stayed up apologizing and apologizing to George Floyd for not doing more and not physically interacting and not saving his life,” Ms. Frazier said.
Darnella Frazier, who was 17 when she recorded George Floyd's murder in Minneapolis last year, was awarded a special citation by the Pulitzer Board. Her video played a major role in igniting a global protest movement against police violence, and was used as evidence in the trial of Floyd's killer.

Pulitzer officials who give out the prestigious prize in journalism and the arts said Frazier's recording highlighted "the crucial role of citizens in journalists' quests for truth and justice."

pundemic

A highly infectious contagion in which unfortunate word games spread from one victim to another until the entire nearby population is groaning in pain.
Jack suddenly shouted, "Can February March? No, but April May", laughing uproarious at his own stellar wit. Stan replied, "Need an ark to save two of every animal? I noah guy" smirking at his one-upsmanship, neither hearing the quiet groaning coming from each side of the table - a tragic symptom of the viral pundemic. It was irreversible. Sue chimed in, "Becoming a vegetarian is one big missed steak."

Clear-sighted, realistically unafraid. A condition which must exist in order for the state of being para-noid to exist.
The only one at the party who had declined the marijuana, he did not have the munchies, did not find every utterance, no matter how inane, hysterically funny, was more than ready to drive anyone and everyone home if need be, and he was suffering no delusions; absolutely no one was out to get him. While his friends' behavior was paranoid, his was, in a word - noid.

def-bombing

Attacking an Urban Dictionary definition with a sustained barrage of thumbs-down votes.
The definition had been selected as Word of the Day. It had earned thousands of thumbs-up votes and many fewer thumbs-down. But somebody out there was peeved. Every day they contrived to give it as many thumbs-downs as they could, usually four or five, in an act of def-bombing that only underscored the power of the definition itself.
