a shade of white which is almost absolute white, named after Tom Ecker, former Olympic Track Coach who spent his entire life shielding his body from the sun.

acre of oak, from the German "Eich" = oak and "acker" = oak


The Eichacker family is a direct descendant of Christian Metz, who was the charismatic founder of the Amana Society in New York and Iowa.

He was a fine Eichacker.

wally strips 

(n) The strips on the right shoulder of the road that awakens you so that you know you are about to go off into the ditch. These strips were invented for "Wally the Weaver" and have successfully saved many lives.

He just roamed to the right of the road and ran into the wally strips and it jolted him awake.
