gooma-zay-guam Thursday

A generic name for any Jewish holiday. The Hebrew names are too hard to pronounce, so I just call all the Jewish holidays gooma-zay-guam Thursday, regardless of what day of the week they fall on. I'm just glad to be off on them; it's something that only happens here in Jew York City.

yid

An Eastern European Jew. The term is often interpreted as offensive, which is a major misconception. The word Yiddish is not offensive, so neither is Yid. The word Yid is used to differentiate between an Eastern European, Yiddish-speaking Jew and an Israeli, Hebrew-speaking Jew.

Simeon is a Yid. However, he prefers to be called Jewish.

boces

A program where kids go if they aren't able to socialize and make friends. They are discriminated against in school and constantly made fun of, and always assumed to have inferior academic capacities.

I've been stuck in boces since 1993, and contemplated suicide so often because of it.
